A Back Yard Basketball Hoop

In 2002, the McAdoo’s began inviting neighborhood kids to shoot hoops in the backyard of their Norfolk, Virginia home. Mack and Janet began building relationships that provided them with the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ. Eventually the group got so large it was moved to Norfolk Christian School where Sunday Night Basketball began meeting on a weekly basis.

2006

1Died4All Camps Begin

Mack was seeing so many kids that were being lost to the streets…gangs, drugs, dropping out of school…He began crying out to the Lord, asking God “How can I reach these kids?!” The Lord placed a burden on Mack’s heart to establish a camp to reach these young people and in 2006 1Died4All basketball camp was established. The name of the camp comes from 2 Corinthians 5:14 “Christ’s love compels us because we are convinced one died for all”. We want every camper to know that along with learning basketball skills, the name of Jesus Christ will be exalted, and God's word will be honored.

2017

Going International

In 2017, 1Died4All went international and hosted camps in La Paz, Mexico and Nairobi, Kenya. In 2019, we expanded to Kampala, Uganda, Eldoret, Kenya and Nanyuki, Kenya. More recently, we have expanded to Amboseli, Kenya and the Middle East. Our international partners have picked up the baton and are conducting coaching huddles designed to disciple and mentor the youth.

2020

Expansion Through Trials

In 2020 when Covid-19 hit, our partners in Mexico, Kenya and Uganda expanded their outreach and began using soccer, volleyball and lacrosse in addition to basketball to reach children with the love of Christ. 1Died4All was also able to provide food and water to many families who were experiencing great distress due to the effects of the global pandemic.
